Prince Edward Island has the greatest concentration of lighthouses of any province or state in North America. The warnings these lighthouses have provided have inevitably saved numerous lives. Warnings are concerning but of great value. The Bible has a warning for all of us. We read in Romans 6:23 that, “The wages of sin is death” and that is very concerning, meaning eventual separation from God. Thankfully in that same verse we read that “the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Here we have not only the warning but also the way of escape. We are to trust in Jesus and turn from our old way of doing things and follow His ways. We are to change our course!

According to a Harvard Health publication mushroom coffee provides more energy, improves focus, boosts the immune system and reduces inflammation. Did you know the Bible instructs followers of Jesus Christ to consume something regularly that has amazing benefits but it is not referencing a liquid. 1 Peter 2:2 reads, “as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby.”

The season of yard sales is about to come upon us. The idiom, “out with the old and in with the new” will be a reality for a number of vendors soon, as they get rid of what is not of value to them and use the money to invest into some that is. Something new! It is interesting, on a spiritual level, when a person receives the forgiveness of sin that God offers through Jesus Christ and enters into a personal relationship with God this person experiences the idiom, “out with the old and in with the new”. This includes a person’s affections toward God, one’s lifestyle, everything! In the bible, in 2 Corinthians 5:17 it reads, Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

Fox news reported that according to various health experts there are six power foods that can help prevent cancer. The six foods are pomegranates, sprouts, green vegetables, tomatoes, green tea, and nuts. The foods on this list as well as other health practices are wise to include to seek to avoid this life threatening disease. Words can be very valuable. Recently a letter card that had words written on it from one of the Titanic’s most well-known survivors, Archibald Gracie, sold at an auction for over half a million Canadian dollars. The words that were written while on the ship read, “It is a fine ship but I shall await my journeys end before I pass judgment on her.” Those are some expensive words! Did you know the Bible testifies of words worth more than money can buy. It reads, All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” Amazingly you can gain access to these words by reading your bible.

Fox news shared an article, 8 bad habits you need to break – unless you want to age faster. The habits consisted of smoking, excessive sun exposure, poor diet, lack of exercise, excessive alcohol consumption, chronic stress, inadequate sleep, and poor oral hygiene. Apparently by breaking these habits you could slow down the appearance of aging. These things would be good to address but something much more important than slowing down how quickly you age is getting to know the one who provides eternal life. John 3:16 reads, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

The official first day of Summer is June 21st. Many are planning on going on a vacation. Whether a person takes time off while staying at home or getting away there will be a break of one form or another. Something that we all know about vacation is it passes by quickly. It is interesting because the Bible describes our very lives as something that passes by quickly. In the book of 1 Peter our lives are referred to as, “our stay here.” It does not last long. Thankfully, the Bible tells us this life is not the end. In 1 John we are told a way in which life, real life can continue on, it is written, “And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.”

Do you ever feel like anger pulses through your veins when you get upset? Well according to a study published by CNN, that is not too far off. Apparently being angry impacts your blood vessel health. Did you know the Bible provides direction on anger that was not shared recently but almost 2000 years ago. In the book of Ephesians it reads, “Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil. Do you have anger in your life that is not being addressed that is overflowing and revealing its effects in a number of other areas of your life? It needs to be addressed immediately.

RCMP in Newfoundland are warning drug users of the danger of using cocaine. Cocaine is currently the leading drug causing overdose and deaths in Newfound and Labrador. Did you know the Bible tells us that we have all been corrupted by something that is deadly that has to be addressed? Romans 3:23 reads, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God and later on it reads, “for the wages of sin is death.” Death meaning eventual separation from God. Thankfully this same verse later tells us that, “but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
