May 29 Human Eye and Alzheimers

CNN health put out an article last month sharing how research is noting how the human eye may help in diagnosing Alzheimer’s disease before symptoms begin. This is made possible by looking to the back of the eye. In the Bible, Jesus said something about the eye that can be used to make a diagnosis that is very revealing regarding judging others. He said, And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove the speck from your eye’; and look, a plank is in your own eye? Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

May 26 Shape of a Persons Heart

According to a study Stanford University put out last month, the shape of a persons’ heart could be a predictor of future cardiac disease. Apparently, a rounder shaped heart increases the likelihood of developing heart disease. Did you know in the Bible Jesus shared about the importance of the heart in relation to a healthy relationship with God. A relationship that is made possible through Jesus Himself. In this case though he is not referring to an organ but our inner emotions. He said, “And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment.

May 24 Inflation on the Rise

With inflation being so high more and more people are seeking to grow their own food, generate their own energy, or work at a home in order to be more self-sufficient. Being self-sufficient can be a very good thing, but not always. Some people think being self-sufficient, in relation to God, is a good thing. It is the idea of striving to be a good person will make them right with God. The bible tells us for someone who is in relationship with God, being self-sufficient was not the way they got there. Ephesians 2:8-9 reads, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”

May 17 Lots of Questions

Studies have shown 4-year-olds ask as many as 200-300 questions a day. A lot of parents would not argue with such a study. Questioning is part of our nature. Do you ever find yourself questioning God? Why would He allow this to happen or why did He not do that? We are given some insight from the book of Isaiah why we might find ourselves questioning God. It reads, “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

May 15 Keto- like diet

CNN published an article recently entitled, “Keto-like diet may be associated with a higher risk of heart disease, according to new research”. It is wise to strive to have healthy eating habits. The fact is though, life is short and we would be wise not simply to watch what we eat but ensure while we are here to get to know the one whom the Bible describes as the giver of life, breath, and all things. The time we have to do this is relatively short and it is not something to put off. We are informed, in the Bible, in the book of James, “For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.”

According to the the study, the ideal number of hours for most people to sleep each night is seven hours. Did you know Jesus shared about the ideal form of rest that is available but it does not have to do with sleep? In the book of Matthew it reads, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

The painting ended up being part of a medieval series that was thought to no longer be in existence. The painting sold at an auction for 26.3 million dollars. God has made something of infinite worth available to everyone of us that we need to recognize. John 3:16 reads, 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
