A study was conducted on women and it was noted in the article that, “Women who drank one to three cups of caffeinated coffee per day in their 50s were more likely to reach older age free from major chronic diseases and with good cognitive, physical, and mental health,” Did you know the bible speaks of not simply living longer but rather at the end of this life being with God for eternity, having everlasting life. It is shared about in John 3:16 which reads, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

There was an article put out by Fox News entitled Hamburger vs. Hotdog: Which is healthier for you? The consensus seems to be that when it comes to overall nutritional value hamburgers that are often topped with veggies wins out. Comparisons are interesting. Charles Spurgeon was an English Baptist preacher in the late 1800’s. He was known in his day as the prince of preachers. On one particular day there was a gentleman that asked him a question in relation to the importance of prayer and bible reading. Which was more important? Charles Spurgeon responded with a question back to this individual asking him which does he consider to be more important? – breathing in or breathing out.

Do you find ice-cream to be overpriced? According Guinness World Records the most expensive ice cream in the world costs $6,696 for a serving. It is made in Japan and is known as “white night”. Can you imagine paying such a price for ice cream? Some people have such a desire to enjoy the ice cream they are actually paying this high price. I would say people are desiring something in this case that would not be worth the expense. In the Bible, Jesus speaks of having a desire that can definitely be satisfied. He says in the book of Matthew, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they shall be filled.” The Bible also tells us that the means to experience this righteousness is through Jesus.

CNN shared an article by Monica Parker entitled, Happiness is a trap. Here’s what to pursue instead, the writer outlines the limits of simply pursuing happiness and enforces the importance of pursuing wonder which she identifies to be of a much greater value. Did you know the Bible places a lot of emphasis on wonder in relation to God? In the book of Psalms, the writer is addressing the knowledge of God and writes, “O LORD, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off.” The Psalmist in summarizing his thoughts on the knowledge of God writes, “Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain it.”

In the book of Matthew He says, “blessed are the poor in Spirit, for theirs in the kingdom of heaven.” Being poor in spirit speaks of one whom recognizes they are not able to obtain heaven due to his/her own efforts but rather through faith in Jesus Christ and what He did to provide provision for sin resulting in a changed life.

Prince Edward Island has the greatest concentration of lighthouses of any province or state in North America. The warnings these lighthouses have provided have inevitably saved numerous lives. Warnings are concerning but of great value. The Bible has a warning for all of us. We read in Romans 6:23 that, “The wages of sin is death” and that is very concerning, meaning eventual separation from God. Thankfully in that same verse we read that “the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Here we have not only the warning but also the way of escape. We are to trust in Jesus and turn from our old way of doing things and follow His ways. We are to change our course!

The season of yard sales is about to come upon us. The idiom, “out with the old and in with the new” will be a reality for a number of vendors soon, as they get rid of what is not of value to them and use the money to invest into some that is. Something new! It is interesting, on a spiritual level, when a person receives the forgiveness of sin that God offers through Jesus Christ and enters into a personal relationship with God this person experiences the idiom, “out with the old and in with the new”. This includes a person’s affections toward God, one’s lifestyle, everything! In the bible, in 2 Corinthians 5:17 it reads, Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
