Journal Cell Metabolism put out a study recently that addresses the area of time sensitivity of when we eat. Apparently eating in the evening makes a difference in our hunger levels, the way we burn calories after we eat, and the way we store fat. This study helps explain why late eating is associated with increased obesity risk. That being the case it is important to realize that eating is time sensitive. Did you know that in the Bible salvation is time sensitive. In the book of 2 Corinthians chapter six it reads, “Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation

The year 2024 is just about to begin. Many people are looking at the year ahead with the anticipation to accomplish great things. People are looking to accomplish that which is praiseworthy. Did you know the Bible outlines something to accomplish that is truly praiseworthy. It is knowing God! In the book Jeremiah it reads, “Thus says the LORD: “Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, Let not the mighty man glory in his might, Nor let the rich man glory in his riches; But let him who glories glory in this, That he understands and knows Me, That I am the LORD, exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth. Last month a lady from Alabama received news about a very unique birth she was going to have. It was determined by her doctor that she was going to have twins which is somewhat unique but her twins were going to be born from two separate uteritis. Apparently the odds of a woman having this type of pregnancy is one in 50 million. When a person considers a unique pregnancy there is none that is more unique than that which was announced to Mary in the book of Luke before the very first Christmas, “And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.”

Recently a 25 year old woman was found alive after being lost at the Big Ben National Park in Texas. She was lost in the twenty one hundred square mile park. The National Park Service were on a desperate search until this young lady was finally found. Did you know the bible shares about a search that God is on? In the book of Luke Jesus shares regarding Himself that, “for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost. We are lost because our sin has separated us from God. We are found when we recognize that the penalty for our sin was paid for by Jesus Christ on the cross and in response to that we place our faith and trust in Him for our salvation resulting in a changed life. At this point we are found!

Last month a man stumbled upon a bottle washed up on a western shore in France. The bottle was tossed into the sea by a fifth grader in Massachusetts 26 years ago. The message was addressed “Dear beachcomber”. The gentleman was able to read most of the letter and track down the individual who wrote it. Did you know God has a message for humanity and it has traveled literally all over the world? A message that is as clear now as it was almost 2000 years ago. A selection of His message reads, For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

In November and December retailers see the greatest surge in sales in individuals getting ready for the Christmas season. The surge begins on Black Friday, the day following the U.S. Thanksgiving leading all the way up to Christmas. Buying gifts tends to be a natural part of the Christmas season. With all of this shopping frenzy each person is trying to find the most appropriate gift for the person on their list. Did you know that the Bible describes a particular gift that God gave, and it is in relation to the salvation made possible through the one who’s birthday is celebrated by many on Christmas day, Jesus Christ. In the book of 1 Corinthians it reads, “Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift.”

More and more people are being drawn to something that does not seem very appealing but has great benefits. Apparently, a cold shower can be affective after a workout as it reduces muscle soreness and inflammation. It can also stimulate the release of endorphins which can reduce stress. Cold in relation to a shower is not something that we commonly think of as a good thing but apparently it is. Did you know that in the Bible there is something associated with God that is a good thing that some people don’t associate. It is the word fear. Proverbs 9:10 reads, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

Do you sleep well at night? Does your spouse steal your blankets? Have you ever tried the Scandinavian sleep method? Apparently countries like Sweden, Denmark, Norway record spouses having a better sleep than anywhere else in the world and it is attributed to the Scandinavian sleep method. The method being that while you share your bed with your spouse you each have your own blanket. If you are concerned about the quality of your sleep you may want to give it a try? Did you know in the Bible Jesus shares that he is concerned about our rest but He is not talking about our sleep. He says, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

A study from the university of Cambridge indicates it may be possible to detect dementia a decade before an individual is diagnosed. The new findings make is possible to screen at-risk patients who qualify for early medical treatment. Those considered to be of a higher risk are those over fifty whom have high blood or do not do enough exercise. Did you the Bible tells us there is something that all of humanity has to treat that we have all been infected with? Romans 3:23 reads, “for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” Thankfully the treatment for our sin has been made available and is accessible through the person of Jesus Christ.

The time of Christmas gatherings is heavily upon us. People getting all dressed up to look their best. What a foolish thing if a person was getting ready and looked in the mirror and noticed tooth paste on ones cheek and just left it.! Did you know we are warned in the Bible to not be so foolish to leave tooth paste on our faces? Essentially, we are warned if we see something that needs to be addressed that we address it. In the book of James, it reads, “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.
