Fox news reported recently that according to various health experts there are six power foods that can help prevent cancer. The six foods are pomegranates, sprouts, green vegetables, tomatoes, green tea, and nuts. The foods on this list as well as other health practices are wise to include to seek to avoid this life threatening disease. Did you know the bible warns us to address something more deadly than cancer which is sin. Romans 6:23 warns us about this but also presents the solution. It reads, “ For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Have you ever lost your wallet and were on a search to find it? A lady from Tofino B.C. recently found her wallet after having lost it while paddling in the water just off of the beach. She then spent the next eight months searching the area where it was lost only to eventually find it fully intact with her license and all of her cash and cards. The wallet was plugged full of sand but everything was still there. It was a diligent search but it was successful. Did you know the Bible mentions that God is on a search? 2 Chronicles 16:9 reads, For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.

According to a recent study of ninety-five scientific reviews that looked at more than ninety-five other scientific reviews encompassing 128,000 participants it was found that physical activity can be 1.5 times more effective in some cases than counseling or medication in tackling depression. Something the Bible directs a person to exercise is their focus when dealing with anxiety. In the book of Philippians it reads, “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

Did you know there is a great show to watch every year in April? In order to see it you just have to look up to the sky. The annual Lyrid meteor shower brings an end to the meteor drought that occurs each year between January and mid- April. The Lyrid meteor shower offers 10 -15 meteors per hour at its peak on a moonless night. The best time to watch this April is during the evenings of the 22nd and 23rd. It is interesting because in the Bible we are told that there is a lesson to learn every time we look up and are amazed at what we see in the sky. CNBC travel put out an article noting that it costs about $1850 a day to visit the ten most expensive destinations in the world. What makes these destinations so expensive primarily has to do with the cost of accommodations averaging $1000 a night. It is quite an expense to experience traveling to any of the top ten destinations. Did you know that the Bible shares about a destination that no financial price could ever be attached to? Do you eat late in the evening? CTV news put out an article addressing the area of time sensitivity of when we eat. Apparently eating in the evening makes a difference in our hunger levels, the way we burn calories after we eat, and the way we store fat. These changes help explain why late eating is associated with increased obesity risk. That being the case it is important to realize that eating is time sensitive. The worlds oldest known intact egg was found in a dig in Britain recently with the yoke still inside. It is 1700 years old. There were actually other 1700 year old eggs found in the dig but they were not able to be preserved because they broke open. The smell that came from the eggs was described as “putrid” from an article put out by BBC news. Did you know Jesus described something that was putrid in His day that was not an egg but a characteristic. In describing those whom were self-righteous, He describes them as, “whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness.”

Rising food prices and other household necessities seem to be resulting in more and more companies using shirkflation. It is a tactic where the volume or weight of a product is reduced but not the price of the product. There is more and more of a push by consumers to get companies to be clear about what a person is getting. Did you know the Bible has information contained in it that outlines with clarity just what a person is getting. 2 Timothy 3:16 reads, All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.

There was something that made the news about a 36 year old alligator at a zoo in Omaha, Nebraska. The alligator has translucent white skin which is very unique but what made the news was what the alligator had been feeding on. Veterinarians identified foreign objects in the alligator that turned out to be coins. The alligator had eaten 70 coins that it had found in the lake. Did you know the Bible instructs us to feed on something that is unique and is absolutely essential for spiritual life. Jesus said in Matthew 4:4 “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.”
