Want to live longer? According to a recent article put out by CNN you can reduce your risk of early natural death, for any reason, by twenty percent just by eating more foods from your choice of four healthy eating patterns. I am sure many people read the article because they were concerned with living longer. Did you know the Bible addresses not simply living longer but living eternally with God. That should get everyone’s attention! In the book of John it reads, For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Recently a lady from Virginia found a vase for three dollars and ninety-nine cents. It was a real treasure! She would end up selling the vase for over one hundred thousand dollars. Did you know in the Bible Jesus shares a story of a man who found a treasure in a field and then went and sold all that he had to buy the field so he could have the treasure. The treasure pictured is the kingdom of heaven and is of infinite worth, but we can actually possess it. Jesus also shared the way into the kingdom. His words from the book of John reads, “I am the way and the truth and the life, no one comes to the father but by me.”

JAMA pediatrics recently published a study regarding screen time for toddlers. The study’s lead author, Karen Heffler, told Fox news digital that, “This study finds an association between greater screen time in the first two years of life and ‘high’ sensory-related behaviors in areas” Did you know that the Bible has direction on what followers of Jesus Christ should pay attention to and there are no limits. It reads, 8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

Recently there was an arrest in Florida of enough fentanyl that authorities according to Fox news said could kill more than 1.7 million people. Fentanyl is an opioid drug that is 50 times stronger than heroin. It is deadly! Did you know the Bible tells us that we have all been injected with something that is deadly that has to be addressed? Romans 3:23 reads, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God and later on it reads, “for the wages of sin is death.” Death meaning eventual separation from God. Thankfully this same verse later tells us that, “but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

The World Economic Form said in a report recently that, “False and misleading information supercharged with cutting-edge artificial intelligence that threatens to erode democracy and polarize society is the top immediate risk to the global economy.” It appears that recognizing truth is going to be a challenge in the future. Thankfully almost 2000 years ago truth was identified in a person and you can find it in the Bible for now and into the future. We are into February, the shortest day of the year. The next thing you know it will be March. . Do you know something else that is short. The Bible describes life as short. It describes life as being like a vapor. Something that appears for a little while and then vanishes away. The Bible also tells us that through embracing Jesus Christ as our Saviour we can know we will be with Him for eternity. Romans 6:23 reads, For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

CTV news reported recently regarding two thieves that stole a truck and an ATM machine full of cash in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan. They did not simply steal money from the ATM but stole the ATM. The stolen truck and ATM emptied of cash were abandoned and found on a rural road west of Shaunavon. There is a request that anyone with information is to contact the Shuanavon RCMP. Did you know in the Bible Jesus tells people to be on the outlook for a particular thief? John 10:10 reads, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

It is well known that smoking has harmful effects on the heart and lungs, but a recent study has indicated that it also affects the brain. According to a study by the Washington School of Medicine in St. Louis smoking shrinks the brain. Quitting smoking prevents further loss of brain tissue but stopping smoking does not restore the brain to its original size. Restoration is a valuable thing. Did you know the Bible teaches about spiritual restoration, renewal when it comes to hoping, trusting, waiting on God. Isaiah 40:31 reads, “but those who wait on the LORD, shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.”

Going on a cruise is a dream some people actually get to experience. Stepping on a boat that is destined for beautiful weather would be a wonderful experience. Recently passengers on the cruise ship MSC Meraviglia didn’t get the balmy getaway they were expecting. Many arrived at the cruise ship to find out that their destination had been changed from the Bahamas to Canada and New England due to bad weather. Definitely a change in destination that was not expected. Did you know there is a destination for those who have embraced Jesus Christ as their Savior that is always the same at the end of this life. 2 Corinthians 5:8 reads, “absent from the body and present with the Lord.”

American wrestler Hulk Hogan has performed in numerous events over the years to entertain others. He was involved in an event recently that was not for show. Him and his wife Sky were recently baptized in a special ceremony at the Indian Rock Baptist Church in Florida. The 70 year old wrestling legend wrote, “Total surrender and dedication to Jesus is the greatest day of my life,”. Hulk Hogan has come to understand the reality of Jesus words in which he said in John 14:6 “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” As well as the reality of what Jesus said in John 10:10 I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
