According to a study published in the journal Nutrients consuming certain food and drink can put a person at a higher risk of developing colon cancer. The study released eight items that are related to a higher risk with the top two being alcohol and white bread. It is wise to watch what you eat and drink! Did you know the Bible has something very essential to share regarding not what we eat and drink but what we think. A way of thinking that is available for a person whom has experienced salvation through Jesus Christ? It reads, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

CTV news reported regarding a study that suggests just seeing a person who is sick “triggers” a biological response in our bodies to start preparing for illness. A study by Patricia Lopes, an assistant professor of biology at Chapman university in California, revealed that bodies anticipate the possibility of infection when seeing another person’s symptoms. Our bodies are designed to get ready for what might come. Did you know the Bible tells us to be ready for what will come? In the book of Hebrews it reads, And it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgement, so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many.

CNN reported recently, that after an extensive investigation Florida officials recovered dozens of cold coins valued at over one million dollars that were stolen from a shipwreck recovery nine years ago. What was discovered was a real treasure. Did you know that in the Bible Jesus shares a story about finding a treasure. He tells of a man who found a treasure in a field and then went and sold all that he had to buy the field so he could have the treasure. He explains that the treasure is the kingdom of heaven, and we can actually possess it. Jesus also shared the way to the king and kingdom. He said in John 14:6 I am the way and the truth and the life, no one comes to the father but by me.

Recently a stained glass Tiffiny window that was originally designed for an Ohio church sold for an unbelievable price. It sold for 12.8 million dollars! That is some very expensive glass. This window is beautiful to look at but like all stained glass it is very difficult to look through. Did you know the Bible speaks of there being certain things is life that are hard to see, hard to understand that will become clear in the future for followers of Jesus Christ. It reads, For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

Do you sleep well at night? Does your spouse steal your blankets? Have you ever tried the Scandinavian sleep method? Apparently countries like Sweden, Denmark, Norway record spouses having a better sleep than anywhere else in the world and it is attributed to the Scandinavian sleep method. The method being that while you share your bed with your spouse you each have your own blanket. If you are concerned about the quality of your sleep you may want to give it a try? Did you know in the Bible Jesus shares that he is concerned about our rest but He is not talking about our sleep. He says, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

Last month the Bank of Canada cut its key rate for the fifth consecutive time. It now sits at 3.25 percent. Increased uncertainty in our economic future aided in this interest rate change. This has changed the price of many things. Something that is of infinite worth that has not changed over the years has to do with being able to experience salvation. The reason the price has not changed is that it is a gift, you cannot buy it or earn it. You can only experience it through faith in Jesus Christ. In the Bible it reads, “8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

The University of Michigan published a study that suggested that eating one hot dog can take 36 minutes off your life. The study looked at more than 5,800 foods common in the U.S. diet and the amount of healthy life gained or lost after eating them. The fact is though, life is short and we would be wise not simply to watch what we eat but ensure while we are here to get to know the one whom the Bible describes as the giver of life, breath, and all things. The time we have to do this is relatively short and it is not something to put off. We are told in the book of James, “For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.”
