For coffee lovers there was some encouraging information put out by CNN health entitled, Drinking coffee could benefit your heart and help you live longer. It shared that according to three research abstracts drinking two to three cups of coffee daily has been associated with a ten to fifteen percent lower risk of getting heart disease. Did you know the Bible also has information that has to do with a means of not simply living longer but living eternally with God in heaven? John 3:16 reads, For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Did you know the Bible teaches of an account transfer that is available through faith in Christ that a person will want to ensure gets properly transferred? Second Corinthians 5:21 reads, “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” Through faith in Jesus resulting in a changed life a person receives, before God, the righteousness of Jesus.

This one of a kind diamond generated a lot of attention. The fact is that when something happens outside of the norm it often gets people’s attention. How unique the announcement was regarding the first Christmas given to the shepherds? It was given through angels. That is definitely outside the norm and it went as follows, “…behold I bring you good tidings of great joy which shall be to all people. When we hear reports of stealing it often involves items like cars or expensive rings or actual money. There was a report put out by CTV recently that noted an item that is gaining notoriety in thefts recently and you would not likely guess what it is? It is butter! Certain stores have reported over $1000 worth of butter being stolen this past year. Did you know Jesus warns us to be aware of a thief but he is not referring to a grocery thief but someone who is trying to destroy your life. In John 10:10 Jesus says, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

Last month an 83 year old grad of McMaster university received an unexpected call regarding a ring that has been lost since 1977. It was found in Barbados by a snorkeler. The original owner was found and was quite ecstatic. There is a story in the bible about a lost son who left his home and seemingly destroyed his life and eventually decided to make his way back home and ask for the forgiveness of his father. The fascinating aspect of this story is the response of the father who is pictured as God. The response is not of condemnation for what he did but rather forgiveness upon returning. The father responds by saying, “for this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found. And they began to be merry.”

Are you a late-night eater? Journal Cell Metabolism put out a study that addresses the area of time sensitivity of when we eat. Apparently eating in the evening makes a difference in our hunger levels, the way we burn calories after we eat, and the way we store fat. This study helps explain why late eating is associated with increased obesity risk. That being the case it is important to realize that eating is time sensitive. Did you know that in the Bible salvation is time sensitive. In the book of 2 Corinthians chapter six it reads, “Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

A man stumbled upon a bottle washed up on a western shore in France. The bottle was tossed into the sea by a fifth grader in Massachusetts 26 years earlier. The message was addressed “Dear beachcomber”. The gentleman was able to read most of the letter and track down the individual who wrote it. Did you know God has a message for humanity and it has traveled literally all over the world but there are still many who need to hear it? A message that is as clear now as it was almost 2000 years ago. More and more people are being drawn to something that does not seem very appealing but has great benefits. Apparently, a cold shower can be affective after a workout as it reduces muscle soreness and inflammation. It can also stimulate the release of endorphins which can reduce stress. Cold in relation to a shower is not something that we commonly think of as a good thing but apparently it is. Did you know that in the Bible there is something associated with God that is a good thing that some people don’t associate. It is the word fear. Proverbs 9:10 reads, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

A Canadian auction house is expected to auction off a painting by Emily Carr in the very near future. This treasured painting was bought at a barn sale earlier this year for $50 and is expected to sell for anywhere between 100 – 200 thousand. Did you know that in the Bible Jesus shares a story about finding a treasure. He tells of a man who found a treasure in a field and then went and sold all that he had to buy the field so he could have the treasure. He explains that the treasure is the kingdom of heaven, and we can actually possess it. Jesus also shared the way to the king and kingdom. He said in John 14:6 I am the way and the truth and the life, no one comes to the father but by me.
