Gold hit an all-time high last month. Gold prices rose thirty percent in 2024. The trend that seemed to be bringing up the price according to an article by CTV news was a season of uncertainly. Did you know the Bible shares about something worth much more than gold that stands out in uncertainty. It has to do with the faith people hold in Jesus Christ through trials. It reads, “In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

In November and December retailers see the greatest surge in sales in individuals getting ready for the Christmas season. The surge begins on Black Friday and goes up to Christmas. Buying gifts tends to be a natural part of the Christmas season. With all of this shopping frenzy each person is trying to find the most appropriate gift for the person on their list. Did you know that the Bible describes a particular gift that God gave, and it is in relation to the salvation made possible through the one who’s birthday is celebrated by many on Christmas day, Jesus Christ. In the book of 1 Corinthians it reads, “Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift.”

The time of Christmas gatherings is heavily upon us. People getting all dressed up to look their best. What a foolish thing if a person was getting ready and looked in the mirror and noticed tooth paste on ones cheek and just left it.! Did you know we are warned in the Bible to not be so foolish to leave tooth paste on our faces? Essentially, we are warned if we see something that needs to be addressed that we address it. In the book of James, it reads, “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.

A recent statement by the American Heart Association noted that keeping your brain sharp as you age has a lot to do with your heart. It was noted that the younger you start taking care of your heart the better. It is also important to keep in mind that coronary heart disease is the lead killer in the world. Did you know when Jesus was asked what was the greatest commandment He had something to say about the heart although he was not speaking simply about the organ in your body? He said, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’

Last month, in Germany, a new fire station was destroyed by a fire causing millions of euros in damage. What stood out about this fire was the fact that this brand new fire station did not have a fire alarm system. There was no warning to prevent the tragedy that ensued although a person would of certainly thought there would of been. Thankfully in life God has given us an alarm in His word but not only an alarm but also a way of escape. The warning is found in Romans 3:23 which reads, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” The way of escape is shared by Jesus Christ in John 14:6, ““I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

We have passed through one season and are transitioning into another. It was such a blessing to see the beauty of the changing colors of the leaves. The fall colours have many lessons to teach us. One lesson being the artistic design of an amazing creator another being a lesson that has to do with ourselves. In the Bible, in the book of Isaiah it reads, “But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags; We all fade as a leaf.” This verse pictures in a negative way what sin does to us, causes us to fade as a leaf, highlighting the need to be saved from it. Thankfully salvation has been made possible. Romans 6:23 reads, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

We are into a season when you do not know just what you will encounter when you are driving. It could be snow, or it could be rain but fortunately vehicles are equipped with windshield wipers that allow a person to be able to see the road with greater clarity. Did you know there is a means in which a person whom has a relationship with God, made possible through faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ, can see the goodness of God with greater clarity? Something that acts like a windshield wiper and clears away that which is blurring one’s vision of God. It is being thankful to God. In first Thessalonians 5:18 it reads, “in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Recently there was a climber who fell down the steep slope of a mountain in Lions Bay, British Columbia. As he was falling down the mountain he hit a small bush that stopped his fall. He was unconscious at this point with a large gash in his forehead but was able to be saved by the use of a helicopter by the Lions Bay Search and Rescue team. Did you know there is a rescue shared about in the Bible that is absolutely amazing and is successful for all who take part? John 3:16 reads, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

Fox news put out an article entitled, Canned tuna fish is protein in a pinch that can be stored in your pantry. The article addressed the importance of having non-perishables at home during a storm realizing that those items could become essential to your physical existence. Did you know that there is something that followers of Jesus Christ are instructed to always have close by to aid in their spiritual existence. In the book of 1 Peter it reads, as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby. This spiritual food source can be in a paper or digital form but in whatever form it is essential that a follower of Jesus Christ has it available and is reading it.

In an article put out by Conscious Rethink entitled, How to Deal with Bragging Friends/Relatives, it is noted that it becomes unhealthy when you use your accomplishments to elevate yourself at the expense of others. Did you know the Bible gives direction on bragging? In the book of Jeremiah there is clear direction on what is beneficial for a person to actually boast about. It reads, “Thus says the LORD “Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, Let not the mighty man glory in his might, Nor let the rich man glory in his riches; But let him who glories glory in this, That he understands and knows Me, That I am the LORD, exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth. For in these I delight,” says the LORD.”
