Last month a couple driving in Cape Cod experienced a unique birth. They could not get to the hospital on time and the husband delivered the healthy baby on the way to the hospital. Did you know the Bible teaches of a unique birth that we all have to have in order to experience heaven? Jesus said in John 3:3 that, “most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” We are also told of a gift we receive in relation to this new birth. This new birth which is made possible by trusting in Jesus Christ as ones Savior. In Romans 6:23 it reads, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

According to statistics Canada over 8000 Canadians died from opioid overdoses last year. Averaging 22 deaths a day. Tragically it is a statistic that has been going up on a yearly basis. Opioids are deadly! Did you know the Bible tells us that we have all been injected with something that is deadly that has to be addressed? Romans 3:23 reads, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God and later on it reads, “for the wages of sin is death.” Death meaning eventual separation from God. Thankfully this same verse later tells us that, “but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Last month 89 year old Bing Album got lost while out hiking in Challis Forest National Park for a period of ten days. The size of the park is over four million acres. Search and rescue searched for him on land and in the air focusing on various known trails throughout the park. Thankfully local residents on horseback finally found him and he was checked over at the hospital and later returned home and is doing well. It was a diligent search but it was successful. Did you know the Bible mentions that God is on a search? 2 Chronicles 16:9 reads, For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.

This coming Sunday is the last day of Summer. Something we all know about summer is it passes by quickly. It is here and then the next thing you know it is gone. It is interesting because the Bible describes our very lives as being here and then they are gone. In the book of 1 Peter our lives are referred to as, “our stay here.” It does not last long. In the book of James our lives are pictured as being like a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away. Thankfully, the Bible tells us this life is not the end. In 1 John we are told a way in which life, real life can continue on, it is written, “And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.”

California police were looking for a burglar who was caught on video returning to the scene of a crime. What apparently happened was when he originally went to the location of the robbery he mistakenly dropped his own keys and left them behind. On his return, which was caught on camera, he was seen frantically looking for his own keys. This gentleman is a robber but apparently not very good at being one. Did you know in the Bible Jesus warns us about a robber who is very good at what he does? In John 10:10 Jesus says, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

The Mayo clinic put out an article sharing tips in keeping your bones healthy. In the article it noted how bones play many roles in the body. They provide structure, protect organs, anchor muscles, and store calcium. The tips it provided to help maintain bone health include getting plenty of calcium in your diet, pay attention to vitamin D, and include physical activity in your daily routine. Did you know in the Bible the apostle Peter shared an essential tip for followers of Jesus Christ to help build and maintain a healthy spiritual life. 1 Peter 2:2 reads, as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby.

Do you have trouble waking up in the morning? If so you may want to try out the Alarmy app that many consider to be “the most annoying alarm clock in the world”. When this alarm goes off the only way to cancel it is to take a picture of a particular item in your home. This requires you getting out of bed and waking up. Did you know in the Bible there is a call sent out to all whom know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour but are not living as they should and it has to do with waking up. Romans 13:11 reads, “And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed.

There has been lots of news reports regarding large fires throughout Canada and the U.S. this past summer causing a great deal of destruction. Do you know all that is required to start the destruction a fire brings? Essentially a little spark that catches and burns and spreads. A spark is so small and seemingly insignificant but it can be so powerful. Did you know the Bible compares a person’s tongue with a small fire that can be extremely destructive? In the book of James it reads, Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles! It would be wise to be cautious of the potential damage you could create today with the wrong use of your tongue.

CNN shared a study listing eight habits that could potentially add 24 years to your life. These habits are to be practiced over a 20 year period. Number 1 regular exercise; Number 2 Not becoming addicted to opioids; Number 3 Not using tobacco; Number 4 managing stress; Number 5 Eating a plant based diet; Number 6 Avoiding binge drinking; Number 7 Getting a good nights sleep; Number 8 being surrounded by positive relationships. Did you know the Bible has direction on not simply living longer but rather forever with God. John 3:16 reads, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

Do you know what your credit score is? CTV news put out an article entitled, “what is considered a good credit score?” In Canada, credit scores range between 300 and 900. It is assessed overtime depending on your purchases and ability to pay your debt. According to this article a good credit score is between 660 and 724. Did you know some people think God assesses them overtime to see if they are good enough to go to heaven. This is not the case as Ephesians 2:8-9 reads, 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.
