There was an article put out by Fox News recently entitled Hamburger vs. Hotdog: Which is healthier for you? The consensus seems to be that when it comes to overall nutritional value hamburgers that are often topped with veggies wins out. Comparisons are interesting. Charles Spurgeon was an English Baptist preacher in the late 1800’s. He was known in his day as the prince of preachers. On one particular day there was a gentleman that asked him a question in relation to the importance of prayer and bible reading. Which was more important? Charles Spurgeon responded with a question back to this individual asking him which does he consider to be more important? – breathing in or breathing out.

When you go walking do you ever walk backwards? If not it might be something you should consider. CBC news put out an article recently entitled, “walking backwards might look a little weird but it could be just the exercise you need. Apparently when you start to walk backwards you rebalance the forces around the ankle, knee, hip, and lower back. It is believed to help with the physical changes of getting older so don’t be too surprized if you see someone walking backwards. Did you know the Bible has insight for followers of Jesus Christ in relation to ones walk that seems out of the norm but it is in reference to a spiritual nature. 2 Corinthians 5:7 reads, “For we walk by faith, not by sight.”

Do you find ice-cream to be overpriced? According Guinness World Records the most expensive ice cream in the world costs $6,380 for a serving. It is made in Japan and is known as “white night”. Can you imagine paying such a price for ice cream? Some people have such a desire to enjoy the ice cream they are actually paying this high price. I would say people are desiring something in this case that would not be worth the expense. In the Bible, Jesus speaks of having a desire that can definitely be satisfied. He says in the book of Matthew, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they shall be filled.” The Bible also tells us that the means to experience this righteousness is through Jesus.

Are you sleeping poorly due to job stress? CTV news shared a study that suggests that may be due to a lack of support from co-workers and higher-ups. The study highlighted the important role the workplace environment and stress have beyond the setting of work. What happens at work can correlate to how well you sleep at night. Did you know the Bible has something to say about rest but it is not in reference to sleep. In the book of Matthew, Jesus says, Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Some studies show 4-year-olds ask as many as 200-300 questions a day. Questioning is part of our nature. Do you ever find yourself questioning God? Why would He allow this to happen or why did He not do that? A person can be in relationship with God, made possible by Jesus Christ, be what the Bible calls a child of God, and still question Him. We are given some insight from the book of Isaiah why we might find ourselves questioning God. It reads, “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts your thoughts.

Last month a New York Couple were magnet fishing in Queens Lake and actually reeled in a safe. When they opened the safe, they found there was one hundred thousand dollars in cash inside. These treasure hunters were left with a story to tell. Did you know that in the Bible Jesus shares a story about finding a treasure. He tells of a man who found a treasure in a field and then went and sold all that he had to buy the field so he could have the treasure. He explains that the treasure is the kingdom of heaven and we can actually possess it. Jesus also shared the way to the king and kingdom. He said in John 14:6 I am the way and the truth and the life, no one comes to the father but by me.

s Prince Edward Island has the greatest concentration of lighthouses of any province or state in North America. The warnings these lighthouses have provided have inevitably saved numerous lives. Warnings are concerning but of great value. The Bible has a warning for all of us. We read in Romans 6:23 that, “The wages of sin is death” and that is very concerning, meaning eventual separation from God. Thankfully in that same verse we read that “the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Here we have not only the warning but also the way of escape. We are to trust in Jesus and turn from our old way of doing things and follow His ways. We are to change our course!

Did you know the Bible shares about something that is of great value and is truly worth it. The treasure pictured is the kingdom of heaven and is of infinite worth because it takes us to the king. Jesus also shared the way into the kingdom.
