CTV new reported recently about a new study published in the Journal of Affective Disorders has found a correlation between a highly inflammatory diet and an increased risk of depression. According to Harvard Medical School a person should avoid or limit high inflammatory foods. Something the Bible directs a person to not limit but rather include mentally in relation to dealing with anxiety among other things reads, “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

CTV news reported recently how a new study revealed a way to potentially reduce your risk of developing Melanoma. Melanoma is one of the few cancers on the rise in Canada. Apparently, those who regularly take a vitamin D supplement are at a lower risk in relation to those who do not take the supplement. Did you know the bible outlines something we are all at risk of and there are no exceptions? In Romans 3:23 it reads, “for all have sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God.” Romans 6:23 reads, “For the wages of sin is death” but thankfully the rest of the verse brings the solution that has been made available to all of humanity, “but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Recently border officers in Arizona reported to have seized more than 1.5 million fentanyl pills in just a one-week period. Fentanyl is an opioid drug that is 50 times stronger than heroin. It is deadly! Did you know the Bible tells us that we have all been injected with something that is deadly that has to be addressed? Romans 3:23 reads, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God and later on it reads, “for the wages of sin is death.” Death meaning eventual separation from God. Thankfully this same verse that tells us what the wages of sin causes also tells us, “but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Recently the police in Long Island responded to a call of a woman going into labor at home. When they arrived the mom made them aware that the baby was almost out. Sergent Jon-Eric Negron assisted with the birth and helped delivered his 5th baby as a police officer. Did you know the bible speaks of a special birth that a person has to have in order to enter into a right relationship with God. In the book of John, Jesus is speaking with a religious leader of his day called Nicodemus and he shares something with Nicodemus that we need to be aware of. Jesus said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

A saying that is often quoted this time of year depending on the weather is, “In like a lion and out like a lamb”. It is a saying regarding the month of March that has stood the test of time. One of the earliest citations is from a book written in 1732 containing a number of sayings but others have not held up over time. Did you know there is a saying in the Bible about a lamb that has not only held up over time but is just as relevant today as it was nearly 2000 years ago. Fox new reported recently about a Utah skier who was buried up to his chest for 45 minutes after experiencing an avalanche. Thankfully in the not too distant future there was an off duty EMT that heard his cries for help and found him and dug him out. What a blessing this man was found and experienced being rescued. Did you know the Bible has numerous blessings to be found and experienced? The key though is to not only read about these blessings but to follow through with what you have read. In the book of James it reads, “But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.”

Recently a couple in New Hampshire had an amazing find after having a devastating loss. The husband had cleaned up their home and had taken the garbage to the transfer station only to realize hours later that he had thrown out his wife’s wedding rings that she set out for cleaning. Thankfully he was able to narrow the garbage bag down to a 20 ton trailer of garbage at the transfer station. It took time but he finally found them. Imagine the joy! Jesus told a story in the bible about a lost coin that was searched for and found. He likened the event to a spiritual reality. He says, “Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

Recently Head Topics Canada reported that cyberattacks are on the rise. Recent data published by Check Point software, and IT security company, indicates that global cyber attacks increased by 38% in 2022 compared to the previous year, with North America seeing a 52% rise. Such increases should cause a person to be cautious and take measures to protect oneself. CNN reported recently how a California man narrowly avoided being crushed by a boulder. He stepped out of his parked car when he received a phone call. Just after stepping out a large boulder fell off the hillside crushing his car. His life could of ended in that moment. Did you know the Bible pictures the briefness of life as being like a vapor? Something that appears for a little while and then vanishes away. The Bible also tells us that through embracing Jesus Christ as our Saviour we can know we will be with Him for eternity. Fox News reported recently how a two year old boy made a full recovery in Uganda after a brave bystander rescued him from the jaws of an angry hippopotamus. The hippo seized the boy from the head and swallowed half his body before he was forced to release him.
