Sept 24 – He’s Not My Dog

boy walking dogA man noticed a boy and a dog, so he walked over to them and asked the boy, “does your dog bite?” No, my dog doesn’t bite ” the boy replied. But when the man tried to pat the dog, the dog bit him. Pulling his hand back he said, “You told me your dog doesn’t bite! The boy replied “this isn’t my dog.” This illustrates the importance of getting the facts right. And the most important area of life where we need to get the facts correct is in regards to the next life. Many are unaware that we can know, here and now that we have eternal life. John wrote, “These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life…” Many have difficulty with this truth because they think they have to earn their way into heaven , by living a good life, and work to please God in everything. But the Bible makes it clear that is is “not by works of righteousness that we have done, but according to His mercy He saves us.”
