Yesterday, June 6th, was the 73rd anniversary of D-Day. On this day in 1944 Allied forces landed in Normandy France, then occupied by the Nazis. It involved 24,000 British, U.S. and Canadian troops. It was the largest seaborne invasion in history and contributed to the end of the Second World War. This amazing day reminds us of another even greater day in history. That was C-Day, or Calvary Day when Christ gave His life for all mankind on the Cross. Paul described it as follows. “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. “Today, we honour those who fought for and died for our freedom on D-Day. But as we remember Calvary, let’s honour the One who died for us, by accepting His death in our place and the gift of eternal life to all who will receive it.
