The Burj Khalifa in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates stands over twenty-seven hundred feet. It is believed to be the world’s tallest man-made free-standing structure. Its foundation of concrete and steel is one hundred and sixty-four feet deep. Foundations are vital in buildings, but also in people. Jesus warned that we should not build on sand, but on solid rock. Paul wrote “…no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” Clearly, we shouldn’t build our lives on sandy unstable philosophies, such as “eat drink and be merry, for tomorrow we die,” but on a personal relationship with Jesus Himself, Only He can take us successfully through this life. Only He can and open the door to Heaven. He said, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
