Recently a couple in New Hampshire had an amazing find after having a devastating loss. The husband had cleaned up their home and had taken the garbage to the transfer station only to realize hours later that he had thrown out his wife’s wedding rings that she set out for cleaning. Thankfully he was able to narrow the garbage bag down to a 20 ton trailer of garbage at the transfer station. It took time but he finally found them. Imagine the joy! Jesus told a story in the bible about a lost coin that was searched for and found. He likened the event to a spiritual reality. He says, “Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

Recently Head Topics Canada reported that cyberattacks are on the rise. Recent data published by Check Point software, and IT security company, indicates that global cyber attacks increased by 38% in 2022 compared to the previous year, with North America seeing a 52% rise. Such increases should cause a person to be cautious and take measures to protect oneself. Did you know the Bible speaks of a spiritual attack that everyone should be aware of. 1 Peter 5:8 reads, Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

CNN reported recently how a California man narrowly avoided being crushed by a boulder. He stepped out of his parked car when he received a phone call. Just after stepping out a large boulder fell off the hillside crushing his car. His life could of ended in that moment. Did you know the Bible pictures the briefness of life as being like a vapor? Something that appears for a little while and then vanishes away. The Bible also tells us that through embracing Jesus Christ as our Saviour we can know we will be with Him for eternity. Romans 6:23 reads, For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Fox News reported recently how a two year old boy made a full recovery in Uganda after a brave bystander rescued him from the jaws of an angry hippopotamus. The hippo seized the boy from the head and swallowed half his body before he was forced to release him. Did you know there is a future account covered in the bible, for a follower of Jesus Christ, that pictures something being swallowed. 1 Corinthians 15:54 reads, So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.”

A recent study by the National Institute of Health notes how drinking enough water may help the aging process. A representative from the study noted, “The results suggest that proper hydration may slow down aging and prolong a disease-free life. With what we know it is certainly wise to seek to be properly hydrated daily. Did you know the Bible has instructions on proper intake but it does not have to do with water? Fox news reported recently how two men and a dog were lost at sea for ten days after they set sail from New Jersey to Florida. They were safely recovered by a tanker that saw them drifting at sea. After being retrieved the men said they relied on prayer and were miraculously saved. In the storm they feared their ship was going to be consumed by the 40 foot waves. Did you know the bible informs us that there will be hardships, storms that will occur in our lives but it has instruction in regard to the proper focus during those storms. It is not to be on the storms but on God. In the book of Isaiah, chapter 26 verse 3 it reads, “You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you because he trusts in you.

CNN put our an article recently entitled, “Here’s how to live longer new study says.” According the new study apparently you can reduce your risk of early natural death, for any reason, by twenty percent just by eating more foods from your choice of four healthy eating patterns. I am sure many people read the article because they were concerned with living longer. Did you know the Bible addresses not simply living longer but living eternally with God. That should get everyone’s attention! In the book of John it reads, For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Global news reported recently that Japan is going to soon start paying money to get people to move away from Tokyo. The capital city is overcrowded and in an attempt to address that families will be paid over $10,000 per child to leave the city. They are sending a clear message they do not want people to come and live in the city but rather leave. In the Bible there is an invitation to come and there is no limit on the number. In the book of Matthew Jesus says, Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

We are into February and I have to ask, how have you been doing with your New Years Resolution? Did you spend a lot of time planning on what you were going to do? Are you struggling with following up or is it already a memory? Leadership expert John Maxwell has been quoted as saying, “much time is spent setting goals, but not enough time is spent on follow-through.” Here is something to consider. Why not get back to focusing on the follow through. Why not focus on making today count. In the Bible, in the book of Psalms it speaks of focusing on the day. It reads, “This is the day the LORD has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.”
