Are you sleeping poorly due to job stress? CTV news shared a study that suggests that may be due to a lack of support from co-workers and higher-ups. The study highlighted the important role the workplace environment and stress have beyond the setting of work. What happens at work can correlate to how well you sleep at night. Did you know the Bible has something to say about rest but it is not in reference to sleep. In the book of Matthew, Jesus says, Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Some studies show 4-year-olds ask as many as 200-300 questions a day. Questioning is part of our nature. Do you ever find yourself questioning God? Why would He allow this to happen or why did He not do that? A person can be in relationship with God, made possible by Jesus Christ, be what the Bible calls a child of God, and still question Him. We are given some insight from the book of Isaiah why we might find ourselves questioning God. It reads, “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts your thoughts.

Last month a New York Couple were magnet fishing in Queens Lake and actually reeled in a safe. When they opened the safe, they found there was one hundred thousand dollars in cash inside. These treasure hunters were left with a story to tell. Did you know that in the Bible Jesus shares a story about finding a treasure. He tells of a man who found a treasure in a field and then went and sold all that he had to buy the field so he could have the treasure. He explains that the treasure is the kingdom of heaven and we can actually possess it. Jesus also shared the way to the king and kingdom. He said in John 14:6 I am the way and the truth and the life, no one comes to the father but by me.

s Prince Edward Island has the greatest concentration of lighthouses of any province or state in North America. The warnings these lighthouses have provided have inevitably saved numerous lives. Warnings are concerning but of great value. The Bible has a warning for all of us. We read in Romans 6:23 that, “The wages of sin is death” and that is very concerning, meaning eventual separation from God. Thankfully in that same verse we read that “the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Here we have not only the warning but also the way of escape. We are to trust in Jesus and turn from our old way of doing things and follow His ways. We are to change our course!

Last month the most expensive feather ever sold from an extinct New Zealand bird went for just over thirty-eight thousand dollars. Imagine spending thirty-eight thousand dollars on a feather! Did you know the Bible shares about something that is of great value and is truly worth it. Jesus shares a story of a man who found a treasure in a field and then went and sold all that he had to buy the field so he could have the treasure. The treasure pictured is the kingdom of heaven and is of infinite worth because it takes us to the king. Jesus also shared the way into the kingdom. His words from the book of John reads, “I am the way and the truth and the life, no one comes to the father but by me.”

CTV news reported last month that Lisa Prosser from Ontario was shocked to find out that fines from 20 years ago suddenly tanked her credit score. These fines were provincial and municipal and are not statute-barred which means there is no limit on how long creditors have to pursue collections. In the article it was noted how this type of debt will never go away unless it is dealt with. Did you know the Bible addresses a debt that we all owe and thankfully states a way in which it can be paid. Do you ever feel like anger pulses through your veins when you get upset? Well according to a new study published by CNN recently that is not too far off. Apparently being angry impacts your blood vessel health. Did you know the Bible provides direction on anger that was not shared recently but rather almost 2000 years ago. In the book of Ephesians it reads, “Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil. Do you have anger in your life that is not being addressed that is overflowing and revealing its effects in a number of other areas of your life? It needs to be addressed before tonight!

CNN shared an article by Monica Parker entitled, Happiness is a trap. Here’s what to pursue instead, the writer outlines the limits of simply pursuing happiness and enforces the importance of pursuing wonder which she identifies to be of a much greater value. Did you know the Bible places a lot of emphasis on wonder in relation to God? In the book of Psalms, the writer is addressing the knowledge of God and writes, “O LORD, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off.” The Psalmist in summarizing his thoughts on the knowledge of God writes, “Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain it.”
