Fox news shared an article, 8 bad habits you need to break – unless you want to age faster. The habits consisted of smoking, excessive sun exposure, poor diet, lack of exercise, excessive alcohol consumption, chronic stress, inadequate sleep, and poor oral hygiene. Apparently by breaking these habits you could slow down the appearance of aging. These things would be good to address but something much more important than slowing down how quickly you age is getting to know the one who provides eternal life. John 3:16 reads, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

We have become very familiar with biometrics. We have been unlocking iphones with our fingerprint since 2013 and sometimes we are exposed to facial recognition in order to board an airplane. Something new in the area of biometrics has to do with research at the University of New Brunswick’s Institute Biomedical Engineering has to do with our walk. The Globe and Mail put out an article focusing on the findings of this department entitled, “How your walk could shape the future of Biometrics.” Did you know the Bible has insight for followers of Jesus Christ in relation to ones walk. 2 Corinthians 5:7 reads, “For we walk by faith, not by sight.”

The US surgeon general said that loneliness in the U.S. poses health risks as deadly as smoking a dozen cigarettes daily. Research shows that Americans who have become less engaged with worship houses, community organizations and with their own family members have reported an increase in feelings of loneliness. In the Bible in the book of Hebrews, the writer directs those whom are followers of Jesus Christ to get together regularly. It reads, “And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.”

Apparently the top three performing stocks to date over the past five years consist of Celsius Holdings, Super Micro Computer and Nvida. Compared to their worth from five years ago they have dramatically increased. Something that is of infinite worth that has not changed in price over the years has to do with being able to experience salvation. The reason the price has not changed is that it is a gift, you cannot buy it or earn it. You can only experience it through faith in Jesus Christ. It is a limited edition Richard Mille watch with a complex sapphire case with a transparent face showing the complexity of the internal design which makes the watch work. It is expected to sell for up to four million dollars. Did you know God has made his design transparent in creation and it complexities far exceed that of a working watch. The Bible says in the 1st book of Romans, “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse.”

With inflation being so high more and more people are seeking to grow their own food, generate their own energy, or work at a home in order to be more self-sufficient. Being self-sufficient can be a very good thing, but not always. Some people think being self-sufficient, in relation to God, is a good thing. It is the idea of striving to be a good person will make them right with God. The bible tells us for someone who is in relationship with God, being self-sufficient was not the way they got there. For coffee lovers there was some encouraging information put out by CNN health entitled, Drinking coffee could benefit your heart and help you live longer. It shared that according to three research abstracts drinking two to three cups of coffee daily has been associated with a ten to fifteen percent lower risk of getting heart disease. Did you know the Bible also has information that has to do with a means of not simply living longer but living eternally with God in heaven? The gentleman responded that his secret was very simple, he always has three things that he looks forward to – something in my work life, something in my personal life, and a holiday. Did you know that in the Bible it is made known that anyone whom knows Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior has something to look forward to that is literally mind boggling. It reads, “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”

CNN published an article entitled, “Keto-like diet may be associated with a higher risk of heart disease, according to new research”. It is wise to strive to have healthy eating habits. The fact is though, life is short and we would be wise not simply to watch what we eat but ensure while we are here to get to know the one whom the Bible describes as the giver of life, breath, and all things. The time we have to do this is relatively short and it is not something to put off. We are informed, in the Bible, in the book of James, “For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.”

Timing is important in so many aspects of life and according to a study put out by the journal, Nature Communications, there is an ideal time to work out. According to this study, while exercise at any point of the day reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease, the best time of day to benefit from physical exercise appears to be the afternoon. Did you know the bible sets out the ideal time in relation to something that is infinitely more important than exercise? It has a timing in relation to experiencing salvation. 2 Corinthians 6:2 reads, “Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”
