November 21 Greater Clarity

We are into a season when you do not know just what you will encounter when you are driving. It could be snow, or it could be rain but fortunately vehicles are equipped with windshield wipers that allow a person to be able to see the road with greater clarity. Did you know there is a means in which a person whom has a relationship with God, made possible through faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ, can see the goodness of God with greater clarity? Something that acts like a windshield wiper and clears away that which is blurring one’s vision of God. It is being thankful to God. In first Thessalonians 5:18 it reads, “in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

November 19 Canned Tuna

Fox news put out an article entitled; Canned tuna fish is protein in a pinch that can be stored in your pantry. The article addressed the importance of having non-perishables at home during a storm realizing that those items could become essential to your physical existence. Did you know that there is something that followers of Jesus Christ are instructed to always have close by to aid in their spiritual existence. In the book of 1 Peter it reads, as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby. This spiritual food source can be in a paper or digital form but in whatever form it is essential that a person has it available and is reading it.

November 17 Bragging

In an article put out by Conscious Rethink entitled, How to Deal with Bragging Friends/Relatives, it is noted that it becomes unhealthy when you use your accomplishments to elevate yourself at the expense of others. Did you know the Bible gives direction on bragging? In the book of Jeremiah there is clear direction on what is beneficial for a person to actually boast about. It reads, “Thus says the LORD “Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, Let not the mighty man glory in his might, Nor let the rich man glory in his riches; But let him who glories glory in this, That he understands and knows Me, That I am the LORD, exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth. For in these I delight,” says the LORD.”

November 14 New Threat

New York Times put out an article entitled, new threat facing homeowners whose properties are featured online. In the article it noted how burglars used to lurk around neighborhoods and scanned obituaries in order to stake out their next target. The fact is now with free services available online your house can be staked out from a computer or phone. House thieves have become much more technological. Did you know Jesus warns us to be aware of a thief but he is not referring to a burglar. In John 10:10 Jesus says, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

November 12 Small Talk

Do you recognize small talk with a stranger to be advantageous? CTV news reported about a U.K. study that suggests short interactions with strangers can be very beneficial. According to the study personality traits in a stranger can be revealed within four minutes. Did you know there is a passage in the Bible that speaks of the knowledge of God regarding individuals? It is in the book of Psalms it reads, “O LORD, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thoughts afar off. You comprehend my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways. The reality is no one knows you better than God. The question is do you know Him?

November 10 Happy?

Are you not happy? This may help. CNN put out an article entitled, Do you want to be happier? Here are 5 habits to adopt. Number One – become absorbed in what you do. Number 2 – practice random acts of kindness. Number three – nurture your relationships (according to the article personal relationships have a bigger impact than money, a job title, and even your health). Number 4 – express gratitude. Number 5 – Celebrate good news. Did you know Jesus shared about accessing something much deeper than happiness. He said in John 10:10, “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

November 7 Storms

Hurricane season officially started on June 1st and will end on November 30th. Thankfully in relation to hurricanes it has been a fairly quiet season. We have not had to deal with the normal kayos these storms bring. Did you know the Bible informs us that there will be storms in our personal lives? The reality is these storms will occur but the Bible has instruction in regard to having proper focus during these storms. It is not to focus on the storms but on God. In the book of Isaiah, chapter 26 verse 3 it reads, “You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you because he trusts in you.”

November 5 Lost Ring

Recently a retired doctor from Texas was reunited with his class ring that he lost 56 years ago in Long Island Sound. A treasure hunter found the ring with his medal detector and tracked down its owner through a number of social media posts. Did you know the bible shares about a search that God is on for the lost? In the book of Luke, Jesus shares regarding Himself that, “for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.” We are lost because our sin has separated us from God. We are found when we recognize that the penalty for our sin was paid for by Jesus Christ on the cross and we place our faith and trust in Him for our salvation resulting in a changed life.

November 24 Sharp Brain

A recent statement by the American Heart Association noted that keeping your brain sharp as you age has a lot to do with your heart. It was noted that the younger you start taking care of your heart the better. It is also important to keep in mind that coronary heart disease is the lead killer in the world. Did you know when Jesus was asked what was the greatest commandment He had something to say about the heart although he was not speaking simply about the organ in your body? He said, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’

November 3 Transition Time

We have passed through one season and are transitioning into another. It was such a blessing to see the beauty of the changing colors of the leaves. The fall colours have many lessons to teach us. One lesson being the artistic design of an amazing creator another being a lesson that has to do with ourselves. In the Bible, in the book of Isaiah it reads, “But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousness are like filthy rags; We all fade as a leaf.” This verse pictures in a negative way what sin does to us, causes us to fade as a leaf, highlighting the need to be saved from it. Thankfully salvation has been made possible. Romans 6:23 reads, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
