CTV news noted how the world’s biggest and most powerful telescope rocketed away last December from French Guiana in South America. It reached its lookout point one million miles from earth in January. Then began the lengthy process of setting up the telescope so it could take pictures and send them back to earth. Well, just recently the pictures from this 10 billion dollar telescope arrived. In regard to the pictures astrophysicist Garth Illingworth said, “This is absolutely spectacular, absolutely amazing,” he added. “This is everything we’ve dreamed of in a telescope like this.” In the Bible, in the book of Psalms the writer also looks up at what God has made and says this: “When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained, what is man that You are mindful of him…

Recently Newsweek reported that the largest fentanyl shipment ever on a U.S. highway was seized on Interstate 70. A state trooper was conducting a traffic stop when the trooper discovered 114 pounds of fentanyl hidden inside the vehicle. Fentanyl is an opioid drug that is 50 times stronger than heroin. It is deadly! Did you know the Bible tells us that we have all been injected with something that is deadly that has to be addressed? Romans 3:23 reads, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God and later on it reads, “for the wages of sin is death.” Death meaning eventual separation from God. Thankfully this same verse that tells us what the wages of sin causes also tells us that, “but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Last month Fox News reported about a cashier at a Las Vegas Burger King receiving a check of over $300,000. The payout was a result a manager giving an employee who never missed a day of work in 27 years a bag of items which included a movie ticket, a Starbucks cup, and candy. There was a video of the employee receiving the gift and expressing thanks. The daughter of the employee put out a GoFundMe campaign believing her father deserved more and the response was over 300 thousand in donations. Needless to say, it was more than the employee ever imagined. Did you know the Bible shares about something followers of Jesus Christ can experience that is beyond what a person can imagine? 1 Corinthians 2:9 reads, “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”

According to an article from the Daily Record the oldest living human is 118 years old. It was noted in the article how, “experts now state that 200 year old humans could happen very soon.” Dr Andrew Steele, the author of a new book on longevity and living longer, said that there is no reason why a human could not actually live to the ripe old age of 200. According to Dr. Steel, “tackling the hallmarks of aging can affect the whole aging process.” Now, whether this is able to be accomplished through tackling the aging process is yet to be seen but the Bible makes it known there is a way to live with God forever. John 3:16 reads, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Recently, the USS Samuel B. Roberts, a U.S. Navy destroyer escort that engaged in the largest sea battle of World War II in the Philippians has become the deepest wreck ever discovered. After using up all of its ammunition it received a fatal shot from another battleship and sank. When the ship sank of the 224 crew, 89 did not survive. The ship was discovered broken in two pieces at a depth of 6,985 meters. That is almost 23 thousand feet underwater. That is very, very deep! Did you know the Bible identifies a search that takes a person deeper than anyone can go? Romans 11:33 reads, “Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!

Recently Costco recalled 400,000 umbrellas due to a malfunction with a solar puck that can cause them to catch on fire. Consumers are instructed to stop using the umbrellas immediately. Consumers can return the umbrella to any Costco Warehouse location and receive a full refund. Did you know the Bible identifies that humanity has an internal problem that has to be addressed and it has to be addressed immediately? The Bible tells us in Romans 6:23, “all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” It also tells us that, “the wages of sin is death.” Death meaning separation from God at the end of this life. Thankfully it also tells us at the end of that same verse but the gift of God is eternal life. That gift has been made available through Jesus Christ.

An article was put out recently by CNN noting how scientists have determined the ideal amount of sleep in middle and old age. Apparently, it has been determined that the optimum amount of sleep is not too little but not too much. Both insufficient and excessive sleep has been associated with a reduced ability to pay attention, remember and learn new things, as well as solve problems and make decisions. According to the scientists who performed the study, the ideal number of hours for most people to sleep each night is seven hours. Seven hours is considered not too much sleep nor is it too little. Did you know Jesus shared about the ideal form of rest that is available but it does not have to do with sleep? In the book of Matthew it reads, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

According to a study shared in an article by CNN recently, drinking coffee may hold more power than waking you up in the morning. According to a new study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine drinking either sweetened or unsweetened coffee is associated with a lowered death risk compared to not drinking the beverage. The study that was conducted showed that those who drank a moderate amount of coffee defined as 1.5 – 3 cups a day had about a 30 percent lowered death risk compared to non-coffee drinkers. Did you know the Bible also has information that has to do with a means of not simply living longer but living eternally with God in heaven? According to a survey from Stat Can put out recently Newfoundland and Labrador topped Canada’s provinces as having the highest life satisfaction in the country. This is followed by Prince Edward Island (59.7 per cent), Quebec (58.7), New Brunswick (56.8) Manitoba (56.1), Alberta (52.2) and Saskatchewan (51.2).
Did you know that in the Bible it is made known that anyone whom knows Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior has a level of satisfaction waiting for them that is literally mind boggling. We often hear in the news of the tragic results of a drive-by shooting but last month there was some great news generated by a drive-by saving. A Lafayette, Indiana man was driving by a burning house recently and he pulled over to check to see if anyone was inside. He ended up pulling four children from the burning home. The children ranged in age from 1 to 18. In order to get the last child out he had to break a widow from the second floor and jump to the ground. All of the children were successfully rescued. Did you know there is a rescue shared about in the Bible that is successful for all who receive the help provided?
