More than 600 people illegally crossed into Canada through Quebec one weekend last month. It was a big increase in the flow of migrants walking across the U.S.-Canada border. About 150 people crossed each day. Police were waiting to arrest those crossing the border. Similarly, many try to sneak into heaven, ignoring clear and simple instructions from the Bible. The most commonly held error in this regard is made by those who think they can earn their way into heaven. The Bible, God’s inspired Word, warns that “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.” And God inspired Paul to remind us that it is “not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to God’s mercy that He saves us.” I hope you will reflect on this very important fact today.
