He was never able to please his abusive father. Discouraged and depressed, at the age of seventeen, he tried unsuccessfully to take his own life. In hospital, somebody gave him a Bible and asked him to read the gospel of John. After reading it, He prayed, “Jesus, if you are the person the Bible says you are, please come into my life.” A few days later, a doctor said to him, “I have given you back your life, but I cannot make you want to live.” The teenager replied, “That has already been taken care of, I have Jesus.” Once again, God kept the promise, He had inspired Paul to write, “…if anyone is in Christ he is a new creation. Old things have passed away, behold all things have become new.” That young man, Ravi Zacharias, has gone on to become a brilliant apologist for Christianity worldwide.
