Reflecting on things Eternal September 26, 2018

Technology is having a huge effect on the relationship between work and leisure. It had been hoped that it would give us more leisure. For the most part, it has failed to do that. The truth is that smartphones frequently follow us to the golf course, or to the kids’ soccer games. Rather than freeing us from work, often technology turns everything into work. Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived, stated, “there is a time to be born, a time to die, a time to plant, a time to reap, a time to laugh, a time to mourn.” We all need both work and leisure, but we also need time to be quiet and to reflect on the important matters of time and eternity. David The Psalmist was inspired to write “Be still and know that I am God.” When we do that, we are looking into eternity and recognizing our accountability to our Maker. Please give this serious consideration. It could change your life. It changed mine.
