“How would private behaviour change if we felt that the world could hear every wicked thought?” That was Elizabeth Renzetti’s question in a Globe and Mail newspaper article. It is not primarily our wicked thoughts or other bad behaviour, though, that keeps us from pleasing God. It’s unbelief and failure to accept Jesus as our Saviour that alienates us from God. Pleasing Him is “not by works of righteousness that we have done…” Faith is the main event with God. The book of Hebrews says, “Without faith, it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe…” And Paul reminds us that good deeds that Christians perform are the outward results of a faith already within. God’s Word says, “By grace you have been saved through faith…”
