Author Max Lucado wrote of a friend who had just returned from Disney World. While there, he and his family visited Cinderella’s castle. Suddenly all the kids rushed to one side. Cinderella had entered! But one boy remained on the other side alone. He longed to be close to Cinderella but was physically challenged. Cinderella did the unthinkable. She crossed over to the boy, knelt and kissed his cheek. What a beautiful act. It reminds us of another story of an unexpected kiss, when Jesus our Saviour bridged the gap between heaven and earth, offering deliverance from our spiritually challenged state. The Psalmist described the events at the cross of Calvary, writing “Mercy and truth have met together; righteousness and peace have kissed.” That heavenly kiss cost Jesus dearly, because it was “by His wounds we were healed.” That kiss is available to all.
