The Canadian Press reported last year that thirty-five thousand people are homeless on a given night in Canada, and that there are two hundred and thirty-five thousand Canadians who are homeless annually. Sadly, all around us we see the homeless, addicted, broken and those in despair. Matthew, in his gospel wrote of Jesus our Saviour as follows: “…when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered like sheep having no shepherd.” If your life today lies in ruins around you, please be assured that Jesus understands and loves you. A gospel song says it so well, “No one understands like Jesus. He’s a friend beyond compare. Meet Him at the throne of mercy, He is waiting for you there. “In other words, if our hearts are broken, if we see nothing but troubles ahead, we can reach out to Jesus. He’s reaching out to all.
