The Greatest Weight Ever Lifted April 29, 2020

On the evening of July 28, 1993, at the Bridgewater Nova Scotia Exhibition, Gregg Ernst lifted two Ford cars – a verified lift of 2422 kilograms, or 5340 pounds. That is more than anyone else has lifted. In doing so, Ernst shattered the previous record held by French Canadian Louis Cyr, set in 1896, by more than 450 kilograms. Ernst is credited by Guinness World Records with ‘The Greatest Weight Ever Lifted’ by a human. An evangelical Christian, and Christ follower, Ernst would be quick to acknowledge that despite his amazing feats of strength, there is Someone who has lifted more. That is Jesus Christ, who lifts the burden, guilt and despair from those who humbly seek Him. Of this Saviour, the Bible says, “Who His own self bore our sins in His body on the tree.” He will lift anyone’s burden, but we must ask Him.
