Last month more than 100 students and teachers on a field school trip in Germany had to be airlifted to safety after they followed an online map that directed them to the wrong trail leading up a particular summit. According to ctv news 99 students ages 12-14 and eight teachers had to be airlifted from a ridge by a helicopter. The trail took them to a destination they eventually realized they did not want to go. Did you know that the Bible speaks of two paths in life? The right one and the wrong one. Matthew 7:13-14 reads, “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.

Recently the city of Lawrence, Kansas, honored both a father and son who saved a four-year-old from drowning in an apartment complex’s pool. The four year old made his way past a locked fence and jumped into the pool. A twelve year old boy saw that the little boy was drowning and went and got his father to help from their nearby apartment complex. The father came, jumped the six foot fence and took the four year old out of the pool. The little boy was limp and not breathing but started breathing after CPR was performed. It was a successful rescue! Did you know there is a rescue shared about in the Bible, that is absolutely amazing, and is successful for all who take part? John 3:16 reads, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

Did you know that Lebron James recently became the first active NBA player to become a billionaire? Back in 2014 he gave an interview to GQ in relation to becoming a billionaire. He is quoted as saying “Obviously I want to maximize my business. And if I happen to get it, if I happen to be a billion-dollar athlete, ho. Hip hip hooray!” Last month he achieved his goal. Did you know there is something that is achievable in your life that truly caries more value than becoming a billionaire? The aspect of this that confuses so many people is that you cannot achieve it through your own efforts but rather by receiving what has been accomplished for you. It is salvation made possible through trusting in Jesus Christ as ones Savoir resulting in a transformed life. John 1:12 reads, “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God.”

It is the season of year for camp fires and marsh mellows. Have you ever wondered why camp fire smoke seems to follow you? It turns out there is a reason for this phenomenon. Ctv news recently interviewed an expert on this from Environment Canada, Kerry Anderson. Apparently, it all boils down to physics. When a person stands next to a fire created a barrier that blocks the surrounding air creating a low-pressure zone. This draws the smoke. This can be understood. Did you know there is a phenomenon from the Bible that the Psalmist could not understand? It had to do with how well God knowns us. In Psalm 139 verse 3 it reads, “You comprehend my path and my lying down, And are acquainted with all my ways. In verse 6 it reads, “Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain it.”

Recently the Washington Post reported how identical twins living in California gave birth to their first-born sons on the same day in the same hospital with both boys having the same weight of seven pounds and three ounces. They were also each twenty inches long. This was definitely an event that stands out. Did you know the bible speaks of a unique birth? A spiritual type of birth. It speaks of a birth that a person has to have in order to enter into a right relationship with God. In the book of John, Jesus is speaking with a religious leader of his day called Nicodemus and he shares something with Nicodemus that we need to be aware of. Jesus said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” It is good to ask yourself, “have I experienced such a birth?

The 2022 NHL Entry Draft is scheduled for July 7th to 8th. Don’t you find it interesting in professional sports how they form their teams? Something I find very fascinating is when a player from one team is traded to another team for multiple players. The talent of one player being recognized as being the equivalent to the talent of 2, three or 4 other players. That always gets my interest. Something I find to be beyond fascinating, that is revealed in the Bible, has to do with a trade made by Jesus Christ for the salvation of humanity. His life, Jesus being God in the flesh, being of such value, valuable enough to pay for the sin of all humanity. Jesus says of himself in Matthew 20:28, “just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”

Recently Mercedes sold the worlds most expensive car. It sold a 1955 Mercedes-Benz SLR coup. This car sold for a record breaking 142 million US dollars. The previous record was in 2018 with the sale of 1963 Ferrari which sold for 70 million. These cars are unattainable treasures. Did you know that in the Bible we are made aware of a treasure that is valued infinitely beyond the worth of any car but we can in fact possess it? Jesus shared a story of a man who found a treasure in a field and then went and sold all that he had to buy the field so he could have the treasure. The treasure is the kingdom of heaven. Jesus also shared the way into the kingdom. He said in John 14:6 I am the way and the truth and the life, no one comes to the father but by me.

This month my wife, Trisha, and I will have been married for 26 years. Something we intentionally invest into is going on dates together. Friday night in typically our date night. We spend intentional time together to invest into our relationship. I believe there are a lot of people who have a wrong perception of the Bible in how it plays out in one’s relationship to God. They view it as a book in which a person simply gains knowledge from. Now while there is a wealth of information in the Bible, the main purpose of reading it is not to simply gain knowledge. I view reading my Bible as a means of investing into my relationship with God. Hebrews 11:6 reads but without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Reading one’s Bible is a way God has provided for us to seek Him!

In South Carolina Last month a fourteen year old teen was rescued by firefighters after being trapped inside a 40 foot well. Before being rescued the firefighters made voice contact with the teenager who was treading water and holding onto the pipes in the well. Imagine how thankful the teen would have been to hear the firefighters at the top of the well knowing they were there to perform a rescue. A fire fighter was lowered into the well to extract the teenager from the well. It was a successful rescue effort! Did you know there is a rescue shared about in the Bible, that is absolutely amazing, and is successful for all who take part? Last month an Ontario woman whom had her wallet stolen warned people in a news article about wisely choosing a pin for your credit card. Within two hours of her wallet being stolen she had more than twenty thousand dollars in fraudulent purchases. Over $9000 were from her Royal Bank of Canada cards. She was eventually asked by the fraud department at RBC if she used a pin associated with her birthday. Her answer was “yes”. This meant that all of the purchases that were made, nearly $9000, with the use of her pin were not going to reimbursed. She has since been cautioning people about choosing a pin wisely. Did you know in the Bible Jesus shares about choosing the way to heaven wisely? He actually presents the only option in John 14:6 in which He says, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
