$50 remains unclaimed February 4

It was shared in the news recently how a music professor from Tennessee slipped a $50 bill into his locker on campus and gave out the combination of his locker in the syllabus for his performing arts seminar class. Unfortunately, by the end of the semester the students all went home and the $50 remained unclaimed because none of his students read through their syllabus and did what it said. Did you know the Bible has numerous blessings to be found and experienced? The key though is to not only read about these blessings but to follow through with what you have read. In the book of James it reads, “But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.”

A 555 Carat Diamond February 2

This month there are plans to auction off a diamond in Dubai that is literally out of this world. The diamond is a 555.55 carat black diamond that is believed to have come from a meteorite. The diamond is expected to be sold for over 8 and a half million dollars. A 555 carat diamond is quite a treasure. Did you know that in the Bible we are made aware of a treasure that is valued infinitely beyond the worth of a 555 carat diamond but we can in fact possess it? Jesus shared a story of a man who found a treasure in a field and then went and sold all that he had to buy the field so he could have the treasure. The treasure is the kingdom of heaven. Jesus also shared the way into the kingdom. He said in John 14:6 I am the way and the truth and the life, no one comes to the father but by me.

An Expensive Robbery January 31

Last month a gentleman from Ontario had a luxury SUV for sale worth $65,000. He tried to sell the automobile on Auto Trader. Two gentlemen showed up to see the car. One stayed in his own car while the other was shown the vehicle for sale. Unfortunately, while the owner of the luxury vehicle answered a call and stepped away both individuals quickly drove away leaving the owner watching his $65,000 speed off. Unfortunately, the vehicle that was stolen was not insured and the owner it is out the value of the car. In the bible Jesus warns of being on guard from a thief that desires to rob us. In John 10:10 it reads, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantl

What does God look For January 28

Last month there were a number of individuals disqualified in a beauty contest that had more than 66 million in prizes. This way not your typical beauty contest. Not only because the amount of money to be won but also due to the fact that it was a beauty contest for camels. It took part in Saudi Arabia and 43 camels were disqualified for being given Botox injections as well as other forms of “tampering” by breeders. The owners winning camel receives a cash prize and recognition which means they can then later sell the camel for even more money. Did you know the Bible shares about what God judges when he looks at us? In the book of 1 Samuel we are instructed what God is looking for when He looks at us. It reads, For the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”

Walk by Faith January 26

Last month a kilt-wearing Scotsman and his dog completed an 8000 km walk across Canada. Michael Yellowlees and his Alaskan husky dog Luna started in Tofino B.C. in April and finished in Newfoundland in December. They raised more than 60,000 for the Trees for Life charity. He definitely got some attention walking in Newfoundland in December wearing a kilt. Did you know the Bible talks about a way to walk that should get your attention? In 2 Corinthians 5:7 it reads, “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” This speaks of living a life in which a person’s trust is in God and His direction. The way to start this walk is addressed in Ephesians 2:8-9, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Money Transfer Gone Bad January 24

Last month, after a two month battle a gentleman from Ontario finally resolved an issue he faced by mistakenly transferring 19,000 into a strangers account rather than his own. He was transferring money into his account for a down payment on a house. In doing the transfer he entered the correct account number but the wrong transit number. Thankfully the bank finally returned the funds into the correct account. Did you know the Bible teaches of an account transfer that is available through faith in Christ that we will want to get right? Second Corinthians 5:21 reads, “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” Through faith in Jesus a person receives, before God, the righteousness of Jesus upon their lives.

Wrong Way to Deal with a Snake Infestation January 21

Recently a gentleman in Maryland burnt his house to the ground, which was valued at more than a million dollars, in an attempt to get rid of snakes. The snakes were in the basement of his house and he lit some coals to try and smoke them out but in the process a fire started and the home eventually burnt to the ground. He was addressing something that needed to be addressed but he definitely went about it the wrong way. Did you know that in the Bible there is something identified that we absolutely need to address? Romans 6:23 reads that the wages of sin is death. Death speaking of spiritual separation from God in this life and being separated from God after we die but the rest of the verse tells us how this can be properly dealt with. It reads, “but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Delivering a baby while driving January 19

A very unique birth happened in Cincinnati, Ohio recently. The father caught his newborn baby girl with one hand while his wife gave birth as they were driving to the hospital. The mother felt she had to push and she did, while they were still driving, and the baby was born. Did you know the Bible teaches of a spiritual birth that we all have to have in order to experience heaven? Jesus said in John 3:3 that, “most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” We are also told of a gift we receive in relation to this new birth. This new birth which is made possible by trusting in Jesus Christ as ones Savior. In Romans 6:23 it reads, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Top 2 Scams January 17

According to Canadian Anti-Fraud Center, Canadians lost more than 163 million to various scams in 2021. The two types of scams that ended up costing Canadians the most were focused around investment and romance. What made these scammers successful is they promised to provide a lot for very little. Did you know some people view salvation, as pictured in the bible, as providing a lot for very little? Experiencing a more abundant life now and the assurance of heaven in the future all at very little cost. The reality is this could not be further from the truth. Salvation is a gift, there is no way to buy it, but it came at a great cost to the giver. 2 Corinthians 5:21 reads, “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”

111 years overdue January 14

Recently a book was returned to a library in Idaho that made the headlines. What was so unique about this book was that it was actually 111 years overdue. The library tallied up the late fees of two cents per day which added up to $803 but needless to say the individual who returned the book was obviously not the person who checked it out and was not charged. Did you know the Bible tells us that while we are alive we are not yet overdue but our opportunity to get right with God will pass? In 2 Corinthians 6:2 it reads, “Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” We are also told the means of experiencing this salvation in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
